the new issue of Bon Appetite has got my mouth watering for pizza. there is an awesome looking pizza on the cover! the website is even better, showing gorgeous, delicious looking pizzas, one after another. I know pizza isn’t the most healthy, but now I’m dying to make my own!

hair cut!

so…I couldn’t wait to get my hair cut, and when my stylist called me to say she had a cancellation today, I jumped on the chance to get my hair cut today! it’s a little longer than I had wanted it, but better longer than shorter right? I got about 4 inches cut off of it, and light layers and whispy bangs. I LOVE it!! it’s a great start to my re-vamping of my style. {extra bonus, I even got my eyebrows waxed! suprisingly, I’ve never done that before!} and for those of you saying, “it doesn’t even look like she cut her hair”, think about this… in the past 4 months, I have cut almost 10 inches off of my hair.

hair cut.

so…I’m getting my hair cut tomorrow. I have had the same hair style for almost 10 years. and I’m in the mood for something different. I’m thinking about chopping it….like 5 inches. eek! I’m such a dorky graphic designer, that I even photoshopped some pictures of me with shorter hair. geez. I think I’m ready for it!!!

baby, it’s cold…..inside??

ok. so, it’s been a little chilly in Florida lately, more than normal. I’m not complaining at all about the weather, I actually enjoy a little cool weather. what I am complaining about is how cold it is inside my office. on normal days, when the temp outside is in the 70s or 80s, I still find my self using my space heater. today, the temp registered 59 on the thermostat when we came to work this morning. 59 is COLD for indoors!!! my little space heater was working so hard to warm up my office, that it was starting to smell like something was burning. {probably not good…} I’ve been here an hour, and I’m finally ready to take my jacket off.

the 2007 green list

domino magazine and treehugger.com teamed up to find great-looking, earth-friendly design to create the 2007 green list . the green goods spread out in different catagories including furniture, clothing, walls, renovating, and transportation. I think this is a great way of showcasing eco-driven companies and designers.

10 things I can’t live without.

10. chapstick. seriously, I’m to the point of almost being addicted. and, since my kitten likes to knock things off of the dresser all the time, I tend to lose my chapstick quite often. now I have three tubes in different places: one at work, one in my purse, and one in my bedside table.
09. water. not just because you need water to live, but I love water and drink lots of water. and I love Emergen C.
08. music. obviously anyone who’s human appreciates some type of music. I heard a saying somewhere that, “if music were a drug, I’d definitely be addicted.” I love getting a new CD. and there are so many great ones coming out this year!!!
07. a good pair of jeans. not only are they super comfortable, but they look good and make you feel good. I love my jeans from Ruehl and I want another pair!
06. good food. I said good food, because I don’t mean just any food. I mean GOOD food. organic meats, fruits and veggies, lots and lots of spices, to die for dinners, and comfort food.
05. family and friends. when your friends become your family, you know they’re special. I can’t live without my family.
04. one giant purse that holds everything. yea, so what if it starts to hurt my shoulder sometimes and makes me low maintence? I like my giant purse. that way, I can use my giant yellow wallet from Anthropologie, carry my umbrella, my sunglasses case, and anything else I can fit into there, all at the same time.
03. good beer. again, I said GOOD beer. I love trying new beers, and can’t wait to visit a microbrewery.
02. love. simply put, I couldn’t live without love. I have someone, who loves me more than I have ever felt love before, and I love him more than I have ever loved. it’s that “can’t live without eachother” love. and now I have a kitten who I love so much, I could just squeeze him all the time!!
01. creativity. in a world with trillions of colors, why would someone want to limit themselves to the black and white? exploring myself, and my limits. I’m the happiest when I’m being creative or designing.

beer snob

I would consider myself to be an average connesuier of wine. I took a wine course in college, I have been to tastings, and I am able to pick a wine based on food parings. I know a lot about the characteristics of wine regions, but I could not, however, tell you that this wine is a 2002 vintage from from the Graves region of Bordeaux or that the Shiraz you’re drinking is from South Australia. it’s difficult to keep up with wine snobs and to feel accepted in a wine community full of over zealous wine freaks. that is why I choose to be a beer snob.
beer is much more complex than I ever thought. I used to wash my palate down with Miller Light after Miller Light, and actually enjoyed the taste. ask me my opinion two years ago, and I would tell you, Miller Light was my beer of choice and I hated the taste of Guiness. I could name enough beers to play the alphabet game with beer as a category, but I had no idea what IPA meant, or what a microbrewery was, or that Belgium beers came in 4 basic styles. I was content drinking can after can of Miller Light. now, I would consider myself to be somewhat of a beer snob. and it’s a whole hell of a lot cooler than being a wine snob. I’ve met beer snobs and they are much more laid back, flip flop wearing, shirts untucked, and messy hair people, as compared to the stuffy wine people who all remind me of Fraiser. being a beer snob, I go to bars where I know there is good beer, I can’t stand drinking anything “light”, and I actually ordered a Guiness at a bar on Saturday night. (guiness + frambroise = delightful)
now that our beer book has just over 60 beers in it, I think I’m well on my way to becoming a beer snob. a few of my favorites to date are: Duvel, Dunedin Apricot Peach Ale, Rogue Dead Guy Ale, Bells Hop Slam, and Great Lakes Holy Moses White Ale. check them out!
