Your advice is excellent! One of the very best ways to keep a relationship exciting and vibrant is to let your partner know how much they mean to you, and love letters are a great way to do just that.

What a sweet sweet idea. My husband hates cards (I love them!) but I do tend to leave him post-it notes around the house at random times.
