holiday outfit: unruly things

holiday outift

on New Year’s Eve, I dream about getting all glammed up in a glittery dress and hitting the fanciest parties in town.  more often than not I end up celebrating more casually however if I were given the chance to dress up, this is what I might wear.

thanks to all my wonderful guest bloggers!!  I hope your holidays were merry and bright and here’s to a wonderful year ahead.  chat with you next week, friends!

while I’m on my winter vacation in sunny Florida, I’ve asked a few of my stylish friends to share their perfect holiday outfit. this outfit is from Jessica of The Shiny Squirrel.

my dream holiday outfit would probably be for dinner in my neighborhood at Diner in Williamsburg and then drinks with friends at my favorite bar, Hotel Delmano with some mixed olives and a beautiful gin cocktail called the San Francisco Handshake.

holiday outfit

while I’m on my winter vacation in sunny Florida, I’ve asked a few of my stylish friends to share their perfect holiday outfit. this dreamy outfit for watching the first sunrise of the New Year is from Stephanie of Even Cleveland.

Someday on New Year’s Eve, I’d like to rent a cabin in Lubec, Maine. Dear friends would come along, and we would stay up all night playing games and telling stories, the way we always do. Just before dawn, everyone would bundle up and set out for West Quoddy Head, the easternmost point of the contiguous United States. We’d watch for the sun to appear, the earliest light of the new year. And then there would be flannel pajamas, blueberry pancakes, hot water bottles and bed.

A.L.C. Contrast Lapel Blazer – a nice riff on the classic men’s white dinner jacket.
NUNETTES “Leopard Classic Black” Sunglasses – for the only night a year when sunglasses are OK indoors, have some fun!
Paul Smith silk blouse – a wonderful classic piece that can be dressed up or down effortlessly.
Paul Smith Grisson Shoe – I love the caramel color of these jazzy kicks.
Vintage Rolex – so you can party like it’s 1981.

This time of year I love low-key days, relaxing around the house with family, good books, delicious eats… I cherish time to relax and catch my breath after a long year. However, one of my favorite things is to dress up on New Year’s Eve, an excuse to get out of those comfy pajamas and put on some heels, lipstick and a pretty dress.

this year is our first new year in OUR house in OUR city (what i’ve taken to calling dc as of late).  it is going to be quiet and with a few friends and a delicious drink or two.  we’ll sit by the fire and count down with the radio on, while sipping on something that sparkles.  i cannot wait.

holiday outfit: wit & delight

guest wit and delightwhile I’m on my winter vacation in sunny Florida, I’ve asked a few of my stylish friends to share their perfect holiday outfit.  first up, Kate from Wit & Delight.

if there is any occasion to fully embrace glitz, it’s the holidays. Since sequins are enjoying their moment beyond of holiday attire, there is no reason not to wear hot pants covered in them to that up coming party. I especially love this rust colored pair by Sass and Bide. I’d wear them with a slouchy sweater, gray booties and fierce accessories. With hair and make up a la Mary-Kate, I’m ready to mingle.
