alima pure cosmetics + giveaway
last month, I received some samples to test out from Alima Pure, a small, woman-owned mineral makeup company based out of Portland, Oregon. if you know me, you know I’m not much of a makeup wearer. even though I have red lipstick wearing dreams, I like to keep it simple with a light powder, maybe some blush or bronzer and lip gloss. sometimes I’ll put on mascara if I’m feeling fancy and rarely I’ll put on eye shadow. it works for me and I always feel beautiful in just my own skin. however, I’m very picky about the makeup I use.
for years, I’ve used mineral makeup with minimal ingredients. it costs more, but typically contains less harmful ingredients {some which cause cancer!}. so when Alima contacted me, I was so pleased! local, certified safe AND natural. win win win! I tested out the Satin Matte Foundation and two lip balms. while I was a bit unsure about testing out a true foundation {typically I’ve heard of foundations being heavy and I’m a girl for light coverage!} it is amazing. I’ve tested it in hot weather, on a 4 hour flight and just average wear around and it’s flawless. it stays on and feels great. and the lip balms – SO good! I got Fig and Holly Berry and both look great. plus, they’re lightly scented with a touch of organic peppermint oil which makes them super yummy.

I’d love to have a chance to get some clean cosmetics! I just got the book “No More Dirty Looks,” all about the dangerous ingredients in makeup, and now I’m looking warily at my drawer full of commercial cosmetics. I hate to throw everything out at once since makeup is so pricey, so I’d love to have a chance to dive in and get some new products in my rotation. And it’s nice to know there is a product line of safe AND quality cosmetics.

Matte eyeshadows, yay! Too many sparkly ones out there, IMO. I like that they have nice basic browns and greys.

Oh goodness, oh goodness. I would get the aegean eyeshadow and the aphrodite. And the primrose blush and the black violet eyeliner. Okay, okay… there’s just too much to choose from!

I would try the Satin Matte foundation, too. I’ve used mineral blush and eyeshadow products before, but I’ve never made the full jump into foundation. I’ve always been afraid that it would be too light to actually cover any flaws… I think this would be a perfect way to try it!
