wolf : 0652 + epic snow

we had snow this weekend, of seriously epic proportions.  as the snow kept piling and piling up outside, I kept giggling to myself and thinking, is this real?!  over all I think we got around 25 inches.  that’s over 2 feet, you guys!  it was mind blowing.  and boy did we take advantage of it!!

we built a snow cave, rode on the neighbors snow mobiles, busted out the ski attachment for Wolf’s bike, went sledding, hunting for buried toys in the backyard, made snow angels.  it was SO fun.  I felt like a little kid all weekend, giddy with excitement!

now the snow is melting and the roads are a slushy mess.  but it was so much fun while it lasted.

we’ve been sick around here.  the worst season for colds ever.  I think between the months of December and January we had 4 colds and perhaps the flu.  just terrible!  but as sick as this kid was feeling, he still managed to smile for the camera.  and that’s why I love him so!

I’m going to try to be a better blogger this week.  but being this little guy’s nurse and my OWN nurse was more important in the last.

Wolf has become 100%, entirely in love with our cat Chuck.  and thank goodness Chuck is such a good sport.  he lets Wolf lay on him, hug him, pull his tail {which we’re working on stopping!}, snuggle him, etc all the time.  Chuck is like Wolf’s own personal teddy bear!  he’s a big guy – weighing in at 18lbs.  he’s even earned the name Biggest.  plus he has the softest fur so it’s no wonder Wolf likes to hug on him so much.

my favorite moment, which happens at least once a day, involves a little convo like this:
Wolf yells to Chuck across the room: “BIGGEST!!! Biggest, come snuggle with me.”
Chuck sits in the window sill, obviously comfortable and watching the world go by.
Wolf: “BIGG-ESSST!!!”  “Biggest, come over here!”
as soon as Wolf realizes that Chuck is ignoring him, he goes over and hugs on him and tries lifting him to come snuggle which always ends up with poor Chuck falling out of the window.  mission – fail.

poor Chuck.  thankfully he’s such a patient cat.

yesterday morning, we decided to escape the city and head to the mountains for a fun day of snowshoeing.  we woke up to a cloudy morning in Bend with light snow falling.  and it was cold!  but Levi noticed that the forecast called for warmer weather and sun in the mountains so after a light breakfast, off we went.

Levi’s folks got us both a pair of snowshoes for Christmas and so far we’ve been out twice.  in the past we’ve always rented a pair so it’s been really great to have our own.  since Wolf doesn’t have his own pair of snowshoes just yet so he gets the best view from the backpack.

we found a nice sunny spot and let Wolf run around for a bit.  next time we might even pack a blanket and lunch and have a little picnic.  we had a blast and will likely be taking advantage of the snow and going up more often.

I know I’m already a week behind, but I thought I’d try for this lovely project again.  I got halfway through last year and quit for whatever reason.  but this year I’ve got high hopes.

Wolf’s absolute favorite thing right now is to play the piano.  it certainly makes this classically trained mama happy.  so far he’s learned how to play Hot Cross Buns and almost has Mary Had a Little Lamb.  which means we hear them – all the time – on repeat.  this video was right before Christmas when he hadn’t quite gotten the “one a penny” part down but he’s nailed it now.

proud mama.

this week was exhausting, friends!  from feeling a little under the weather to hustling around making last minute arrangements for Halloween, I just didn’t stop going.  I’m sorry I left this space pretty quite but I hope you had a wonderful week and Halloween.  this little cutie dressed up as the lead singer of his favorite band, Arcade Fire.  if you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my video last week of Wolf dancing to Reflektor.  seriously, the kid is obsessed with the song.  sure, it was us listening to it that first got him excited about it but he’ll even tell you that his favorite song is Reflektor and that yes, he does want to hear it for the zillionth time in a row.  so what better to dress him up as for Halloween than front man, Win Butler, from their Here Comes The Night Time special.  I cut out a few Otomi creatures, stuck them to a white suit jacket and got him a little white bunny to dance with.  success!

have a lovely weekend!  we’ll be celebrating a birthday which means I’ll be making the EIGHTH annual carrot cake.  cheers, friends!

little things : toddler popsicles

Wolf popsicles / Unruly Things

we’re enjoying summer in full swing over here.  that means, we’re taking in all the warm summer sun and cooling off the best ways we know how.  naturally, that includes popsicles and this year, I finally bought some popsicle molds.

after reading the reviews on many different popsicle molds, we decided to get some toddler sized pops so that Wolf could really enjoy them.  and to be quite honest, they’re the perfect size for us, too.  Wolf just loves them and they’re so easy for him to hold and eat.  {which may be a good or a bad thing considering I’ve caught him in the freezer more times that I’d like to count!} here are some of the combos I’ve made.

strawberry lemonade
pineapple coconut – Wolf’s favorite!
cherry limeade
coconut blackberry

zoku pops

for the most part, I’ve just been blending juices 50/50 with a little bit of honey to sweeten them up and they’ve turned out perfect.  I’m hoping to test out some vegetable juices, too.

and yes… I’ve been slacking a bit on my 52 project.  I’ve been taking photos for sure, but haven’t been picking up my SLR as much lately.  the iPhone is just so easy!  this was supposed to be last week’s photo.  he’s dancing and singing about his popsicle.  and more on that indigo dyed shirt this week!

not too much to say this week.  although, this kid… let me tell you.  he’s starting to show his two year old colors.  we had a string cheese incident yesterday, meaning there was none in the house and all hell broke loose.  lucky for him, he’s pretty dang cute, even when he thinks the world is ending.

I give you two photos this week because I couldn’t pick just one.
