mama things : leader bag co.

mama things : leader bag co. | unruly things

during my pregnancy with Wolf, I hunted high and low for a stylish diaper bag that I’d feel happy carrying. I never did find one that was specifically a diaper bag and ended up using a simple backpack that worked out just fine, but it was definitely missing that diaper bag element.

enter Leader Bag Co., founded by three sisters-in-law who all had baby boys within the same year. a few months back, I met with one of Leader Bag Co.’s founding mamas, Meghan Nesher, for a sneak preview of their new US-made bag – the Julien Backpack. I was literally drooling over every single detail. they’ve seriously thought of everything when it comes to creating a diaper bag that’s not only stylish, but über functional with all the necessary bells and whistles. it’s hand-crafted of water repellent 14oz duck canvas paired with vegetable tanned leather and a wipe clean nylon interior. each backpack comes with a matching leather change pouch and padded change mat, plus it’s got plenty of pockets and interior space to keep all the stuff you need for baby {or toddler} packed tight.

just perfect, right? the Julien Backpack is now available in limited quantity on their site. I dare you to take a peek and tell me you’re not in love.

little things : winter water factory

little things : winter water factory | photo by Alyson Brown for Unruly Things

since we get outside almost everyday over the summer, we’re big fans of tees that are not only soft and comfy but stylish and cool as well. I’ve always been a big fan of the tees from Winter Water Factory, so when they sent over Wolf {and baby brother!!} a few things to test out, we were pretty excited. Wolf has a soft spot for airplanes so I picked out this rad plane tee for him. he likes it so much, he would wear it every day if I let him!

Winter Water Factory is known for their fun graphic tees. plus, they’re all made in the USA and organic – bonus. have a look at their shop to see more goodies. warning: the baby stuff is insanely cute!!!

it’s a…

unruly things : it's a BOY!!

BOY!!! that’s right – brothers! I wanted a special way to announce this little babe and couldn’t think of anything more fun than a bunch of big balloons. so we braved a super windy day and headed to the park for a few pics. at first the news that we were having another little boy was hard. I’d always pictured myself with one boy and one girl. but I can’t say I didn’t have a hunch already that it was a boy even if I’d been holding out for the news of a baby girl. I’ve been getting used to the idea of having two little boys and the more and more I think about it, the more excited I am to be the mama to two wonderfully sweet little boys. plus, I think Wolf will just love having a little brother!

I’m almost 21 weeks pregnant, which means I’m over the hump! hopefully this little guy doesn’t play the waiting game that Wolf did and comes closer to his due date. we’re still looking at mid-September and couldn’t be more thrilled. now to think about names!

seventh generation : au naturel

Unruly Things for Seventh Generation

when you think about the products that you’re putting on your little babe, you want nothing but the best, right? organic and natural but most importantly, toxin free. best put – au naturel.

even though Wolf is now potty trained and only wearing diapers at night, we choose to diaper him in Seventh Generation diapers because for one, they not only worked the best with his sensitive skin but we felt better knowing that they are free of fragrances, petroleum-based lotions, chlorine processing and bleach.

Seventh Generation put together an amazing little video called Au Naturel promoting their diapers and it’s way cute – check it out here.

Unruly Things for Seventh Generation

as you know, I’ve partnered with Seventh Generation to help spread the word about their Toxic Freedom Fighter Campaign. the Toxin Freedom Fighters Campaign is collecting signatures, with a goal of reaching 100,000, and delivering them to Congress on April 30, 2014. and they’re ALMOST THERE! the signatures will strengthen the movement behind chemical reform and will encourage that decision-makers change the necessary laws.

thanks to those of you who have already signed and supported Seventh Generation’s fight for safer chemicals. if you haven’t signed the petition, have a look at the campaign here. there’s only about 3000 signatures left until they reach their goal.

little things : the second registry

Unruly Things | Wolf : picture by Leah Verwey for Alyson Brown

did you put together a registry for your second child? most times you create a baby registry the first time around so that your friends and family can help you out by purchasing the things you need for your new bundle of joy. but the second time around, since most likely you’ve got most of what you need already, I’ve always wondered about the social awkwardness of a second registry.
