if you may or may not have noticed, I did a little editing to the layout of Unruly Things this weekend. I’ve been wanting to offer spaces for sponsors on the blog for quite some time now, but hadn’t had the time to rearrange my blog until this weekend.
so, with the new 3 column look, I’m happy to announce that Unruly Things will now offer advertising at very affordable prices. email me if you are interested in a media package!
would like to advertise and don’t have an ad designed? let me know, I’m offering specials for advertising and purchasing an ad together!

while I would looooove to be able to sew my own clothes, time and space are limiting me in that area right now. therefore, I find myself lucky to be in the company of so many talented women, who not only know how to sew, but create such wonderful garments with their talent. I love owning a limited design and when possible, I love picking out my own fabrics. plus, it’s such a great feeling to know that I’m supporting independent designers!
first, there was Shaybelle, then Wiksten, and these are my latest dress purchases.

hi!! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I had a jam packed, heat filled weekend of work and fun. and now that today is Monday, I can let you in on my little secret and very exciting news.
today, dlb and I are launching our {yes our… } new business, called Seventy and Sunny! we are so excited to be sharing this news with you. Seventy and Sunny is a creative design studio featuring web and print based designs. not only will we have completely customized options for any creation that you desire, but we will also be offering pre-designed items that you can customize to your own personal liking. within the next few weeks, our e-commerce site will be up and running, but for now our site links to our etsy page, which will remain holding the pre-designed headers and other pre-designed things. it also links to our blog where we will be posting shop updates and Seventy and Sunny news.
Sunali will still remain my namesake business and will include some exciting things in the next few months. but, I decided that it was time to move on to newer and bigger things. over the years, Sunali had evolved from a nickname for myself {SUN-ALI::ALY-SON} and the place holder for my college portfolio, into a little side business that recently started to take off. I’ve felt for awhile now that Sunali just really didn’t fit where I wanted the business to be going.
so! with the biggest smile on my face and the most appropriate weather, I introduce you to Seventy and Sunny. hip hip hoorah!!!!

I wanted to thank the kind miss Emily of Eco-Chic Weddings and the Indie Wedding Guide for featuring Sunali Design as an Editor’s Choice this week! her blog focuses on ways to keep your wedding edo-friendly and smart. I had a “why hadn’t I thought of it” moment when I read her insightful post about “save the date” cards. she featured Sunali in a post about converting the proper ritual of sending a save the date card into a creatively designed email to be sent to your friends and family, and suggested I design one for you! so, if you’re up for the eco-friendly, non-traditional route, please let me know.
I’m also available for traditional save the date cards and invitations as well. please contact me for rates.
thanks again Emily!

a month or so ago, I was browsing etsy when I came across Shaybelle and this lovely dress. of course, not being a wiz behind a sewing machine and always wanting a one of a kind dress, I thought about customizing one of her lovely styles. I contacted Melissa, the designer and awesome lady behind Shaybelle, and told her I was interested in purchasing a dress of one of her designs, though customizing it with fabric that I picked out. she said she’d be delighted to work with me and I started hunting for fabric.
a few weeks later {and the best thing to brighten up my otherwise boring day on Saturday} a pretty little package arrived in the mail with my brand new Shaybelle Carpenter dress. my choice of fabric was a brown herringbone flannel, just light enough for cool spring days, though warm enough to handle chilly wind days and that awful air vent draft in my office. I think it’s perfect for this dress.
Melissa, it was a pleasure to work with you and I can’t wait to work with you again. I’m thinking summer dresses and tops!
