comfy cozy

sleep outfits

something about the holidays always makes me think of cozy sleepwear.  99% of the time, some sort of lounge or sleepwear item is on my list.  I guess it’s because I imagine opening it on Christmas then spending the rest of the morning lounging in my new gift.  these sleep outfits from Anthropologie are super cute.  love those socks!

angela’s christmas

angela's christmas

this weekend, we got our Christmas tree.  I always have high expectations of decorating for Christmas, but then when it’s all up, it almost feels a little lack luster.  don’t get me wrong, I love our little 3ft Austrian Pine with it’s super spiky leaves, it’s just not “perfect”.  not yet at least.

I’m so inspired by Angela’s post about her tree.  I love that she’s using red rick rack.  such a cute idea!!  and that cookie – yum!

all the little animals

animals

I’ve mentioned before that I love animal ornaments.  our tree is always decorated with all different types of animals that I began collecting when I was a kid.  we’ve got a flamingo, tiger, pig, whale and more.  {you can see a few of them on our tree last year}

it’s become a tradition to add a few more ornaments to our growing collection each year.  this year, to go along with my “rustic christmas” theme, I thought I’d add one of these little guys from Terrain, made with natural materials like leaves, seeds, tree bark and pine cone chips.  I especially love that plump little owl.

christmas decor

christmas decor

this year, more than ever, I’m excited to decorate our house for the holidays.  we’ve got a really pretty red door which I’ve already hung a wreath on and a huge picture window in the front that I’m hoping {or hoping dlb will} drape some twinkling lights outside.  even though we won’t be in Portland for Christmas, we’re planning to get a tree this week so we can enjoy it while we’re here.  I’ve been wanting to get a few more things to spruce up the house to make it a little cozy and to me, this set up is nearly perfect.  not too flashy and honestly, I think I’d leave it around all winter long.

what about you?  how do you decorate for the holidays?

holiday dressing + little black dress

abbot dress

I don’t know about you, but I get pretty excited about dressing up for the holidays.  I think this little black dress would be a wonderful option for pre-Christmas or New Years parties.  I love that slit down the back!  plus, unlike most sparkly, flashy, sequined holiday dresses out there, you could probably wear it more than just for the occasion.
