to further fuel my cabin obsession {and yours, too, apparently} I put together inspiration for a romantic forest getaway for Jen of Honey & Kennedy blog, including staring at the stars and whiskey by the fire. go look!

life has gotten to be so amazing {and let’s face it – BUSY} these days that I’ve hardly had time to post. please excuse me while I take a wee blogging break to regroup. I’m working with a special lady on a redesign for UT and I’ve got plans for new columns this year. I’ll post when I’ve got something amazing to share so I won’t be completely gone, I just feel like I needed to say that I’m taking a break so I don’t feel this incredible guilt for leaving you hanging all the time.
if you’d like to follow a little bit of my life, please do on instagram. I’ve taken posting to be a little bit like mini blogging and do so many times a week. my username is unrulythings or if you’re not an iphone user, follow me here.

you’re already off to a great start.
this year I’ve decided to actually make resolutions. often I come up with a little list of goals for myself upon the new year and then soon forget them or revert back to my old ways. but something about the dawning of a new year really got me. my life until now has been pretty darn amazing but as I see it – the best is yet to come. I’m extremely grateful for everything and everyone in my life and I’m excited to continue to prosper and grow. here’s a few of my resolutions:
• be nicer to the world. sometimes I can be quite bitter. the way I see it is, we only have so many days on this earth, why not live them happily and to the fullest?
• develop a new routine. the gym, getting up early, crafting, healthy eating… what ever it might be, just pick it and stick to it.
happy new year friends! what are some of your resolutions?

last week, we headed down to the Cleaners space at the Ace Hotel for a fun family photoshoot with Lisa Warninger. the photos turned out so great, I couldn’t resist sharing a few with you.
the Northwest themed set was styled by Lauren Hartmann and was so cute – and totally us! there was even a Pendleton throw, framed fern print and pinecones in a jar. it was like our home away from home. Wolf was in an amazing mood and the pictures totally show it. plus it totally helps that Lisa’s a genius behind the camera.
Lisa is a Portland based photographer specializing in lifestyle, fashion and on-location shooting. be sure to check out her Portland street style blog Urban Weeds or her website for some more beautiful photos. thanks again, Lisa!!

I’ve got a serious thing for vintage cars. I don’t know much about them and I can’t tell you what year one might be, but I can tell you that I love ‘em. cars just aren’t made like they used to be. such class!!
I love these old print ads so much.

bunk beds and tepees on the lawn? I’m day dreaming about staying at this Montauk Surf Shack.

we’re in Idaho visiting family this week. forgive me if I spend a little time hanging out with this cutie and his aunts, uncles, grandparents and great grandparents. {plus, we have no internet! I should be happy to be off the grid but it’s driving me crazy.} here are some photos from our trip so far.
see you next week!
p.s. this is what Wolf thinks about fireworks. not so happy. ;)
