dlb brought home an early Christmas present for me this weekend. he knows I like things that sparkle and he obviously knows my love for terrariums. that boy knows me too well.
for you Portlanders… this terrarium is from Artemisia on SE 28th. if you haven’t been there, it’s truly a great little shop. go! now!! you’ll thank me later.

I can’t decide whether these clogs would be totally ridiculous or they would save me from those drizzly days ahead. I’ve got a pair of rain boots that I just never wear and the thought of a shoe I could just slip into sounds quite nice.
thoughts?
oh yea… and I finally bought Toms! seriously, like walking on clouds.

Narcisse is one of Portland’s newest boutiques featuring the lovely clothing from Denmark brand, Noa Noa. Dawn, one of the owners of the shop, was kind enough to email me to let me know about their grand opening event tomorrow night, including wine, appetizers and 10% off all merchandise. hope to see you there!

Abby posted about Stephanie and Maria’s feature on the Martha Stewart show today. congratulations ladies! I loved the 3191 year of mornings blog, and I’m happy to see their success. above was one of my favorite mornings.
Stephanie and Maria will be in Portland, OR on October 30 at Life and Limb for a book signing and gallery show.

how are you? I’m fine, great actually. I had a simply fantastic weekend that I couldn’t wait to tell you all about.
saturday, dlb and I took a trip up to the Gifford Pinchot National Forrest to hike a trail that I’d heard was quite amazing. Falls Creek Falls. maybe you’ve heard of it? if not, it’s pretty great. the trail is quite easy, only a few tough spots that go constantly uphill, but the work is worth it because at the top you are greeted with an incredible waterfall that drops into a huge punch bowl. we packed a lunch and enjoyed a chilly, breathtaking view of the waterfall.
as we were walking along the trail, we noticed a couple of little birds bobbing around on some logs. we stopped to watch them when I felt a sting on my shoulder. of course I screamed, thinking I’d been stung by something and whisked what I pictured to be a giant bug off my shoulder. it was actually a tiny bird that had land on my shoulder, and I guess it was his little claws that “stung” me! it couldn’t have been cooler.
we’ve already been making plans of going back to the area. there is so much to see and so many trails to explore. and besides, Stephanie informed me of a fantastic brewery near by. with a beer list like that, we’re bound to go back!

Chelsea reminded me that the Farmer’s Market is now open downtown. buying food locally is not only good for the environment, it’s fresher than anything in the supermarket and it’s good for your local economy. buying directly from family farmers helps them stay in business. plus, an experience at the farmer’s market is always fun. pick up some flowers, fruits and veggies, fresh bread, and other local treats. dlb and I are planning a trip to the Saturday Market down by PSU this weekend.
take the opportunity to be eco-friendly and find some delicious produce and visit a farmer’s market this weekend. ride your bike there and don’t forget your reusable shopping bag! Local Harvest is a great site with lots of resources to find a Farmer’s Market in your area.
