eco-chic + thanks!

I wanted to thank the kind miss Emily of Eco-Chic Weddings and the Indie Wedding Guide for featuring Sunali Design as an Editor’s Choice this week! her blog focuses on ways to keep your wedding edo-friendly and smart. I had a “why hadn’t I thought of it” moment when I read her insightful post about “save the date” cards. she featured Sunali in a post about converting the proper ritual of sending a save the date card into a creatively designed email to be sent to your friends and family, and suggested I design one for you! so, if you’re up for the eco-friendly, non-traditional route, please let me know.
I’m also available for traditional save the date cards and invitations as well. please contact me for rates.

thanks again Emily!

sunali + pre-designed headers

as you may have noticed, I’m in the process of updating my website. previously, sunali design served as a hosting site for my portfolio, filled with work created by me. the site needed to be updated and basically, I just didn’t feel like it really “fit” what I was all about. so, I’m excited to announce that this summer, sunali will now be dedicated to product and custom design. in the meantime, I’ll be hard at work creating new things for the shop and updating my website.

speaking of the shop… yesterday I added 14 pre-designed headers to the things available at sunali creations.
these are pre-designed headers which can be customized with your blog name and title. you are free to suggest color changes or simply go with the colors provided. I will only make minimal changes to the illustrations, so what you see is what you get! if you are interested in a header, email or convo me on etsy.
so! over the course of the next month or so, I’m going to be super busy with shop updates and site changes, along with a much needed vacation to Florida. I’m planning on exciting things and I’ll be sure to post some sneak peaks along the way.
I’m excited… are you?

college kitchen

a few weeks ago, the sweet and talented Amy contacted me with a special request. she was putting together a cookbook for her ward relief society and needed some illustrations for the cover and category dividers. I said that I would be delighted to help her and started brainstorming ideas for cute drawings that she could use for their cookbook. while the original drawings that I created were in black and white, here’s what I came up with for the cover and category dividers. I decided to color them in, just for fun.if you are interested in any custom design work, please contact me for rates.

it’s spring time

I’m really enjoying creating things for other people. it’s such a great feeling to create something that someone not only loves, but puts in a place that’s like their second home – their blog. it’s the thing that reflects the most about them, and it’s where we get our first impression of who they are. that being said, thank you again, ladies, for choosing me to create a header for your blog.
here are some new designs that I’ve been working on over the past few weeks:Dianna of Whatever Dee Dee Wants is a super sweet gal who just announced some exciting news on her blog. she and her husband are expecting!
Jessica of Ruched creates some amazing quilts and jewelry. she blogs about her creations and findings.
Jenny of Wiksten is a uber talented lady who designs the cutest tops and dresses. her style is great and her fabric selections are always so perfect. check out her winter 2008 colletion here.

and… since I’ve been doing headers for so many lovely ladies, I thought it time to change my own header. besides, spring is a time for a fresh look. as always, if you are interested in a header for your blog or etsy shop, or any other custom creations, send me an email or check out my shop.

the abcs of gocco

on Saturday I had my first taste of Gocco and I loved it. I created this image using 7 different fonts to display the alphabet. I kind of wanted to explore my options and learn the process with out being too detailed. the white ink didn’t turn out super great, but I still think it looks cool. I love how easy it felt and I loved how quickly I got it. I still have some things to figure out, like drop outs and ink coverage and how hard to squeeze down to get a good print, but Gocco really is great. it’s small and compact and fairly an easy clean up. I feel like I’m armed with a method of printing that I think I’ll really grow to love.

sunali + customized

firstly I want to thank everyone for the amazing response to my custom designs. I love hearing everyone’s input and thoughts. there’s a funny little thing about blogging that I didn’t expect when I first signed up for my blogger account. I knew it was going to be a home for my thoughts and ideas for a long time coming, but it was the friendships, and networks, and great circle of inspirational people that I would “meet” that really make blogging special. so, thank you for being my friends!
here are four new headers that I’ve just finished for the lovely ladies of In{side} the Loop, Allison Wrote, Lizzy Dishes, and I Heart You. I had fun with these, exploring new ideas and color as you may have noticed. this neutral girl has gone wild, and started using color, and I quite like it. even though pink is my least favorite color, I have Paige, of I Heart You to thank for challenging me to use that bold pink on her header. and it fits her perfectly!
. .. .. . .. .. . .. .. . .. .. . .. .. . .. .. . .. .. . .. .. . .. ..
so, now. I’d like to tell you a little bit about what I’m happy and excited to offer you. I’m currently available to customize just about anything that you can think of: blog headers, stationary, invitations, note cards, business cards, calling cards, recipe cards, and more. I’ve added a link to my side bar which now links to all of the custom work that I have done previously, but will eventually link to my new design site which is in the works. aside from giving you whimsical and unique designs, I can offer a quick turn around and affordable pricing.
email me
if you have any questions or would like to start a custom job.

{as of yesterday, I’ve increased the price for blog headers. I wanted to offer a fair price while also being fair to myself. though after spending hours researching and developing 2 or 3 header designs for each person, I was beginning to feel a little on the short side. so, to be fair to you and fair to myself, I’ve upped my pricing. as always if you are interested in a design or would like to know more, please drop me a line}

a little glimpse

two headers I’ve just completed for these two lovely ladies:
Jen of Toujours Complexe loves all things French and fashionable. her blog is filled with bright colors and always makes me smile.
Michelle of Lovely Little Things wanted something to show her love for her home town, Seattle. she writes about her findings in the city and her fabulous discoveries.

as I mentioned before, I’m available to design a new header for your blog for $25 with three styles to pick from. all you need to do is contact me at alyson.jg {at} gmail.com and let me know a little bit about what you are looking for, and I’ll take it from there!
