maybe you noticed my new header? the hand lettering is by the amazing Tara Jones. I contacted her a few days ago with a request for the lettering in my header. doesn’t it look amazing? she sent a few options, which I had a really tough time deciding between because her work is really great, but ultimately I went with the one above. combined with my fireflies trapped in glass jars, I think it captures romance and wonder. check out her adorable website for more samples of her work. thank you again, Tara!

I love scholastic things like bright red apples, brown #2 pencils, and graph paper. these mugs would be great for an elementary school teacher or that student at heart.

one of the most expansive script fonts available, P22 Zaner has over 3000 glyphs. it is also unique in its style, capturing the beautiful strokes of penman Charles Paxton Zaner.
it’s quite lovely, if you ask me. I can’t imagine having handwriting that nice.

two headers I’ve just completed for these two lovely ladies:
Jen of Toujours Complexe loves all things French and fashionable. her blog is filled with bright colors and always makes me smile.
Michelle of Lovely Little Things wanted something to show her love for her home town, Seattle. she writes about her findings in the city and her fabulous discoveries.
as I mentioned before, I’m available to design a new header for your blog for $25 with three styles to pick from. all you need to do is contact me at alyson.jg {at} gmail.com and let me know a little bit about what you are looking for, and I’ll take it from there!

I really like these eyelet lace letterpress cards from pistachio press. this reminds me of some embossing I did when I was in college. we made embossed prints of our name, nothing exciting but it still turned out pretty.

a week ago, Sara, of the lovely blog Miss Jane, contacted me to ask if I designed custom blog headers. she was looking for something to jazz up her site while inspiring the Seattlite in her and came to me for help. we set up a quick, easy transaction from my shop, and I began work on her headers. for $25 I provided Sara with 3 initial styles to pick from, based on her ideas and suggestions. she had picked out a color scheme that I worked with to create a simple, catchy header for her site.
after a few minor color adjustments, here is the final three I sent her.
can you guess which one she went with?
so now, I’d like to extend an offer to any of you, interested in a little blog pick me up or custom design: I’m available for hire. I’m easy to work with and can give you great, custom work for an affordable price. I’ll hammer out the details over the next few days, but if you’ve got any questions, comments, etc., you are more than welcome to send me an email – alyson {dot} jg {at} gmail {dot} com.

joslyn of simply lovely! she said:
“i’m most proud of my husband’s most recent b-day party…it was a milestone party and he had just begun woodworking, so we made handmade invitations using wood grain for the background, used wood veneer to make tons of hurricanes for candles and asked all the guests to bring him a piece of wood found or bought that he could craft something from. All our family members pitched in for the band saw and we served German food and red velvet cake (his favorites)…it was pretty swell if i do say so myself.”
sounds pretty amazing huh?! thanks to dlb for helping pick the winner. I think you won him over with tools being involved. :) thanks to everyone for their great stories. it was hard to pick just one.
{joslyn, email me your info and I’ll send out a special valentine’s day set of cards which are available in my shop!}
