Wolf and the blue bike

Wolf and the blue bike | photo by Alyson Brown for Unruly Things

this weekend, Wolf graduated to a shiny new blue bike for his birthday - the Specialized Hotrock 12 - and he’s pretty stoked about it. he picked up pedaling faster than I thought he would! the brakes are still a little tricky for him but he’s getting there. I imagine those training wheels will be off before no time.

if you follow me on Instagram, you’re probably familiar with my Wolf hashtags. #hellomynameiswolf, #wolfupinthesky and #wolfandtheredbike to name a few. I started a new hashtag – #wolfandthebluebike if you’d like to follow along.

Wolf turns THREE.

Wolf turns THREE | photos by Alyson Brown for Unruly Things

our little Wolf turned THREE yesterday and we celebrated all weekend. Saturday we threw a little backyard bash and invited all his buddies over to party. Wolf told me that he wanted a blue cake for his birthday so I obliged, and of course ran with it for a little blue theme. blue balloons, indigo blue tie dye everywhere, blue candles and that blue cake. our pals at Fearless Baking made the cake and those incredible cut out cookies. amazing right? we had a three piñata, bubbles galore and sunprints for the kids to create. it was so much fun and Wolf had the time of his life.

I still can’t believe he’s already three!!

show me your stack : chelsey kantor

Unruly Things / Show Me Your Stack :: Chelsey Kantor

todays stack is rad, you guys. it comes from jewelry designer, Chelsey Kantor and is just plain cool. Chelsey’s stack is big and bold, a rare style on the series. here’s what she has to say about it…

I have been in the jewelry world for the past decade, but just recently started to produce and wear my own designs. I like bold minimal jewelry with maximum effect, so I’ll wear just one ring or if i’m feeling like it (as in the picture) pile it on. Jewelry is my armor and sometimes you just need more to take on the day.  All my pieces are highly influenced by textures and patterns in nature, with a modern urban edge. On most days I go from the country to the city to the beach (LA is great that way!) and everything I wear has to fit seamlessly.

On my right hand I am wearing my Arbor ring in silver with brilliant cut brown diamonds, designed based on the growth rings of trees and reflective of the passage of time. And the Ramus ring, each ring one of a kind and hand carved to fit unique pieces of 30-40 million year old petrified Alasken Coral. Ramus means branch and to me the coral looks like a tree branch. On my left hand I am wearing the Acropora ring. Acropora is a species of coral and the ring is reminiscent of coral branches dancing in the sea. And the Tidepool cigar band. A silver ring with brilliant and rose cut brown diamonds based on the patterns of light reflecting in water pools.

The rings (and bracelets) are available at Garde in Los Angeles or Peipers and Kojen in NYC. Because of how important nature is to my process I wanted to give back and a percentage of every sale is donate to the National Resource Defense Councils: Save BioGems Initiative. An awesome charity that works to protect and defend wildlands and wildlife – www.savebiogems.org.

thanks so much Chelsey! do you or someone you know have an amazing stack that you’d like to share? submit photos of your ring adorned fingers to hello {at} unruly-things {dot} com.

I’ve been obsessing over the fragrances from Commodity for a little while now. the branding is incredible and the scents, with names like Gin, Moss, Book and Tea, are completely intriguing. I love that they handcraft their fragrances using premium ingredients in small batches, leaving more room for attention to detail and perfection. and I especially love that you can test out, every scent from their men’s or women’s collection for only $9.

I was thrilled when Commodity contacted me to ask if I’d be interested in receiving one of their fitting kits to test out their different scents. now, I have to be honest. I am not much of a perfume wearer. I used to be, then for what ever reason I stopped wearing it. then I had a hard time finding a new scent that I loved that didn’t give me a headache. I’ve got a sensitive nose I suppose. but I was up for a challenge and truly loved their concept.

my favorites were Paper, Pinot and Rain, but ultimately I ended up loving a men’s scent the best: Whiskey. it’s warm and inviting, like a good Whiskey drink. I’ve been wearing it every single day and since I’m pregnant, I figured, when you can’t drinking, wear it.

for a limited time, Commodity is offering 55% off their 100ml bottles. that’s one incredible deal, you guys! enter code SOMUCHWIN at checkout.
